Combat & Gear
Combat works as it did in 2004, but gear needs higher levels here, and No Escape adds weapons and armour of its own.
What's different from OSRS and 2004
Higher requirements
Every metal tier is 10 levels a step: iron 10, steel 20, black 30, mithril 40, adamant 50, rune 60, dragon 70. Bows, coifs, studded leather and the Staff of Iban need more too. Battlestaves, mystic staves and dragonhide keep their usual levels.
No quest locks
No gear needs a quest to wear. Rune platebodies and dragon weapons only need the level.
Overlevels help you gear up
Requirements check your base level plus your overlevels. Potion boosts don't count.
How requirements work
- Weapons need
Attack, bows and crossbows need
Ranged, and staves need
Magic and
Attack.
- Armour needs
Defence. Ranged armour needs
Ranged as well.
- With +10 Attack overlevels, you can wield rune at 50 base Attack.
- The (u) gear your overlevels give you each life has no requirement (see Death & Deadman).
- Anything not listed on this page has no requirement: plain robes, wizard hats, capes, amulets, rings and most boots and gloves.
Pickaxes count as weapons too: wielding one needs Attack (iron 10, steel 20, mithril 40, adamant 50, rune 60). Mining with one only needs the usual Mining level: steel 6, mithril 21, adamant 31, rune 41.

The rest is bought with souls: the Dharok Scythe, Glowing dagger +, Runelight, Staff of Iban, Flame shortbow, Rune and Bone Crossbows and Rogue Magnet in the Soul Shop, and the Dark sword, Vannaka's Brassard and the black jewellery in the Blood Soul Shop. Their stats and prices are in Souls, and the ten special attacks are in PvP.
Prayers
- The prayer book stops at 43: there's no Smite, Retribution, Redemption, Chivalry, Piety, Eagle Eye or Mystic Might.
- Protection prayers block all of that style's damage from monsters, but only 40% from players.
- Town guards and White Knights ignore protection prayers.
Protect Item does nothing: no items are kept on death.
The full prayer list is in Skills.
Food
Fish heal what they did in 2004: lobster 12, swordfish 14, shark 20. Baked food is weaker here: bread heals 4, pies 3 to 5 a half, pizzas 5 to 10 a half and stew 9. Anchovies and bananas heal 3. There are no karambwans or Saradomin brews. Every food's heal is in Skills.
