PvP
On No Escape, every tile of the map is PvP and there's no level range.
What's different from OSRS and Deadman
No wilderness levels
The whole map is PvP, towns included. There's no combat bracket: a level 100 can attack a level 3 in Lumbridge.
Kills pay out the bank
Kill a player and their whole bank goes into yours. There are no bank keys to carry.
Prayer isn't immunity
Protection prayers block 40% of a player's damage, not all of it.
2004 tools only
No Ancient Magicks, no Tele Block, no Piety or Rigour, no whip or granite maul. Freezes are Bind, Snare and Entangle, upgraded to hit hard.
Who you can attack
Anyone, anywhere, except:
| You can't attack | Why |
|---|---|
| Players in their first 30 minutes of a life, or still on Tutorial Island. You can't attack anyone while you're protected yourself, either. | |
| Members of your own clan chat | |
| Fights are one-on-one. See One-on-one fights. | |
| Inside Kolodion's arena, you can only fight with magic |
Safe mode and Hunt mode
The PvP: Safe / Hunt toggle is in the top-right corner of your Combat Options tab.
Safe mode (default)
You can only attack skulled players, or someone who attacked you first. It stops you skulling yourself by accident. It does not stop anyone attacking you.
Hunt mode
You can attack anyone. Attacking a player who isn't skulled gives you a skull.
Skulls
- Attacking a player who isn't skulled gives you a skull for 15 minutes. Attacking someone who's already skulled doesn't.
- The skull timer pauses while you're logged out.
- A skulled player is fair game for everyone, including players in Safe mode, and town guards hunt them.
::skullstatusshows the minutes left on your skull and the names of players who've been after you.
One-on-one fights
All player fights are single combat. Once two players are fighting, no one else can attack either of them until about 7 seconds after their last hit on each other.
Monsters are different. Several monsters can attack you at once, and a monster can keep hitting you while you fight a player.
Guards
Guards, soldiers, White Knights and other town guards hunt skulled players who come within about 12 tiles, whatever your level, and they'll join in even if you're already fighting someone. They ignore everyone who isn't skulled.
- You can't attack town guards.
- Guards ignore protection prayers, and against skulled players they hit far harder and far more accurately than their level suggests.
- When a guard is fighting a skulled player, it can cast a spell that binds and stuns them.
Guarded towns
Lumbridge, Varrock, Falador (with its White Knights) and Edgeville.
No guards
Draynor, Port Sarim, Rimmington, Al Kharid, Barbarian Village and the Wilderness.
Prayer in PvP
Protect from Magic,
Missiles and
Melee each cut a player's hits of that style by 40%. Protect from Magic also halves freezes.
- 43 Prayer is the top of the prayer book. There's no Smite, Retribution, Redemption, Piety or Rigour.
- A dragon scimitar special that hits turns off all your prayers for about 7 seconds.
Freezes
Freezes are upgraded on No Escape: they hit far harder than they did in 2004.
| Spell | Magic | Holds for | Max hit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | about 5 seconds | 8 | |
| 50 | about 10 seconds | 16 | |
| 79 | about 14 seconds | 24 |
- Protect from Magic halves the hold and cuts the damage by 40%.
- The hold breaks if the caster gets more than 10 tiles away.
- When a freeze wears off, you can't be frozen again for about 3 seconds.
Special attacks
Turn a special on with the Special orb or the bar in your Combat Options tab. Specials work on players, monsters and base walls alike.
| Weapon | Needs | Energy | Special |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25% | Two quick stabs with extra strength | ||
| 25% | One hit with +25% accuracy and +25% max hit | ||
| 50% | A normal hit. If it does damage, it turns off your target's prayers for about 7 seconds. | ||
| 50% | Three hits in a row | ||
| 100% | One huge swing with +40% accuracy and +40% max hit | ||
| 25% | A lightning strike for up to 30, rolled against your target's Magic defence. Protect from Magic reduces it. | ||
| 50% | If your next hit does damage, it freezes your target for about 10 seconds | ||
| 33% | A quick shot with extra accuracy and strength | ||
| 50% | One shot with +25% accuracy and +25% max hit | ||
| 25% | One shot with +15% accuracy and +15% max hit |
If you switch weapons before the special fires, you get the energy back. Wield requirements are in Combat & Gear.
Escaping
Logging out
You can't log out until 10 seconds after combat ends. Then a 10-count logout countdown starts, and moving, acting or getting hit cancels it.
Teleporting
Not within 10 seconds of combat, then a 12-second stand-still that any hit cancels. It costs 250 souls, works once per hour of play, and never above level 20 Wilderness. See Teleports.
Running
An Energy Fruit from the Soul Shop restores a lot of run energy.
Winning a fight
- Your victim's inventory and worn items drop on the spot, noted where they can be, and for the first 6 minutes only you can see them. They disappear after about 30 minutes.
- Their whole bank goes straight into your bank, and you get a message saying you've claimed it. That includes their banked Player's Souls and all their Blood Souls: the ones they were carrying, plus 1 for each Blood Soul Shop item they had. The Player's Souls they were carrying are destroyed.
- The kill is yours if you've damaged them since they were last at full Hitpoints, even when a monster lands the last hit. If several players hit them, the most damage wins. The full rule is in Death & Deadman.
- You get combat XP for the damage you deal, with a bonus against higher-level targets: +2.5% for every 20 combat levels they have, up to +12.5%.
The Purge
At random, anywhere from 15 minutes to about a day after the last one, a Purge is declared. It's announced in game and on Discord 15 minutes before it starts, and a normal Purge lasts 2 hours. A big red PURGE sign shows on screen while it runs.
- Every skull is cleared when it starts, and nobody can get skulled until it ends.
- Safe mode stops limiting you: it only blocks attacks that would skull you.
- Guards stand down, because they only hunt skulled players.
- New-player protection, the clan rule and one-on-one fights still apply.
